Keith Gaines, the program director, graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1988. After teaching public school for several years, he became interested in EMS. After becoming a state licensed paramedic in 1997, he worked for Scott and White EMS and in Scott and White’s Level 1 Trauma Center in Temple, Texas. Keith is now a fulltime educator dedicated to opening doors for tomorrow’s healthcare professionals. Feel free to call/text Keith any time.

Tony Abraham, the Assistant Program Director, graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2009 with a B.S. in Psychology. Tony became an EMT in high school and a Paramedic shortly after freshmen year of college. Tony is also one of the Co-founders of UT’s LHSEMS Organization and education program and was also the former Director of Operations. Tony has worked for special events company, Aemstar, Fayette County EMS, Liberty County EMS and North Channel EMS. Tony’s future plans include becoming a critical care paramedic and working as a flight medic before pursuing further education in medical school.

Hey everyone I’m Arshia. I am the External Affairs Captain of LHSEMS and one of the instructors/skills testers this year. I became an EMT-B through the LHSEMS education program in the Summer of 2009 and have been a skills tester in the past. I am a senior Biochemistry major with plans to attend medical or graduate school after I graduate. My two favorite sports are biking (check out my charity cycling team: www.TeamRowdyRiders.com ) and basketball (GO ROCKETS!). Other organizations I am involved in include UT Cycling and ISACO.
